1:30-2:30ʻOlelo HawaiʻiFor beginners, no Hawaiian languge experience necessary, suitable for kane and wahine (men and women, boys and girls). Open to all ages who know basic reading & writing skills necessary to keep up. Dates: 8/24/19, 10/5/19, 11/16/19, 12/21/19, 1/25/20, 2/22/20.$100 one time fee for five sessions
1:30-2:30Beginning Tahitian DrummingLearn Tahitian rhythm on toʻere and other instruments. This is a beginning level class, no prior experience is necessary. Suitable for kane and wahine (men and women, boys and girls). Equipment rental $50 one time fee for season, if available. A practice to'ere of PVC and a dowel are available for purchase for $20. Dates: 9/7/19, 10/12/19, 11/23/19, 1/4/20, 2/1/20, 2/29/20.$100 one time fee for five sessions
2:30-4:30WahineAges 13 & up (women and girls), must be approved by Kumu to be in this class. Class lesson will vary, ALWAYS to include at least one hour of Hula. The remaining time would be Tahitian. Could be two hours Hula, could be 1.5 hours Hula and 0.5 hours Tahitian.$60
4:30-5:30MakuaAges 30 and up suggested (women), with Hula experience, must be approved by Kumu to be in this class.$40
5:30-7:30KapeheThis is for the leaders of the various classes. Class days and times will vary but sufficient notice will be provided.
5:30-7:30Show TeamPerform in shows at birthday parties, luaus, charity events, and so on. For dancers with five years or more Hula dance experience and five years or more Tahitian dance experience or willing to learn Tahitian aparima, Maori, and Samoan. Must be approved by Kumu to be on this team. Open to kane and wahine (men and women, boys and girls). All ages. Class days and times will vary but sufficient notice will be provided.

For those who can play or sing Hawaiian music at a basic level.$10, but the fee is waived if you pay for Desert Strummers musician practice.
1:30-4:30Desert Strummers musiciansAccepting all who want to learn Hawaiian music with the opportunity to perform. We perform with KHOH dance shows and we perform as a band. Led by Alakaʻi Mea Hoʻokani Pila Uncle Mike Bonnice. Open to all who want to sing or play an instrument. You'll learn ʻolelo Hawaiʻi and moʻolelo thru mele.$10

Registration closes on September 7, 2019.  To join KHOH after this date, visit on a class day and speak to Kumu Kaimi for approval; to get current with lessons might require an addition fee for private lessons.


Pricing


Pay one monthly fee for any or all Hula classes; the fee of the highest-priced class applies.  Pay one monthly fee for any or all or Tahitian dance classes; the fee of the highest-priced class applies.  Take both Hula and Tahitian for $60 per month.

To maximize your opportunities, we give a family discount.  The cost of a family of two or more people will not be more than $120 per month.  The actual cost depends on individual class fees for each person.  The exceptions are that there is not a family discount for ʻOlelo Hawaiʻi or ʻUkulele. 

Drop-in students are welcome.  The fee is $20 per class. If you decide to register, your drop-in class fees may apply to your registration.


Private lessons are available.  The fee is $50 per hour and requires a minimum of two hours.


**There is a one time registration fee for all new haumana (students) of $50.00.  This pays $10 toward a t-shirt and $20 toward the first month's fees. 

Returned checks will incur a $25 returned check fee.

Debit and credit cards are accepted, as is PayPal, with an additional charge of 5% rounded up.

Payments are due on the third Saturday of the month for the next month.  Late fee of $15 applies for dues received after the 21st of the previous month for the following month.
